Young Tui
I am absolutely delighted as Tui chicks have appeared in my tree again this year. In previous seasons there has been a clutch of 2 or 3 appear in November and another lot in mid January. I thought there were going to be none this year but on investigating a lot of funny noises in the tree, found these two.
They are a little bit older than in previous years. They have their wing colour and the white wing bar but not as yet the white lacy shawl or bobbles under the neck of the adult, and there is still a bit of fluff around the legs and chest. They have definitely not yet developed the beautiful song of their parents.
As playful as children, these two were dancing along the fence late this afternoon.
