Mrs Farmergirl
I met Farmerboy when I was 18. Back then I worked with his sister, and she would bring me 'home' to the farm in the weekend. Farmerboy and I stayed in touch over the years. It wasn't until 10 years later, that we got our act together, started 'officially' going out, and became engaged.
I have fond memories of visiting the farm. The one that really stands out is when Farmerboy asked if I would mind driving the tractor, not long after we got engaged, and turn the hay for him. How could I refuse! I was in love and could do anything!
Things were going fine until it came to putting the tractor in the shed at the end of the day. I forgot about the forks on the loader that extend out beyond the tractor. I drove the tractor in, thinking I must put it as far as I could into the shed - but yes, I forgot about the forks, and they went right through the shed and out the other end!
I was a wee bit scared to tell Farmerboy, but he was so good about it and didn't tell anyone. He fixed up the shed, so no one could tell I had had an accident. This reiterated my decision that yes, I had to marry this wonderful man!
It will be 18 years this year since that magical day when we married in Nelson. And what an amazing 18 years it has been. My only regret is that we didn't get our act together and marry earlier.
