Optimism!

Living in Scottish Borders with an unsheltered garden, my lovely wee sister hangs out washings 12 months of the year and takes them back in drier than they went out.

This is not the case on the North Lanarkshire peaks!  Up here, looking across fields and valleys to the Campsies and the City, the whirly drier has no problem with whirling.  The complicating factor, all year round, is the much moister air of the West.  Here there's little point in hanging a wash in the winter and sometimes in spring, summer and autumn, the wash comes in damper than it went out!   And on Arran, the washing never feels bone dry until it has aired indoors a bit.

Optimistic, then, to hang out sheets on a moist but sunny February day!  I can but hope.

Edited:  Well bless my buttons!  The sheets were markedly drier by 4.30 p.m.!! Optimism paying off?
