A fine spring afternoon. The kind of day that inspires one to unbolt doors that have been closed on the elements for weeks, if not months.

I found this old weight a few years ago while (I think) clearing the back yard. The back yard has reverted to jungle now and the weight hasn't been used for so much as a doorstop. It has remained where it was moved, at the top of the steps, sunning (and weighing) itself. When I moved it with my foot for no good reason I saw that it left an earthy Pacman shadow (as did the defunct cat-litter tray to the left): proof of how long these things have been settled there, minding their own business.
