After a leisurely morning, Em and I packed a bag with lunch, spare clothes and welly boots and headed to the foot of Windermere to explore. We found ourselves a sheltered spot where the sun warmed our backs. Em made leaf boats, pushing them out into the water with reed stems while on the water the geese sunned themselves and herons squabbled over fishing rights.
