The Rebuild Begins

This is the only bridge in our town. It crosses the river that runs right through the center.  Debate has been going on for quite a few years as to how replacing this bridge was going to be done.  Build a second bridge, first?  Require everyone to drive five miles in either direction to the next bridge?  Or somehow use the bridge during the construction.  With schools on both sides, fire trucks and emergency vehicles needing to cross, etc., etc., this has been a hot topic around town. 
The plan is to keep the bridge open and at a greater expense, build one-half at a time.  Not quite sure how this is going to be accomplished, but I am happy about that decision.  There will also be a round-about put in.    Over the winter two buildings on the corner have been torn down and now the large equipment has moved in.   Today it looks like some major digging has started.  Now I will have something else to blip as I am sure you all excited to see the process of our new bridge.
