Dunadd

Today I headed west to Kilmartin Glen in Argyll and climbed Dunadd which is the site of an ancient hill fort. Near the top there's a carved ceremonial footprint said to have been used to initiate the earliest kings of the Gaelic kingdom of Dal Riata. I'm not quite ready to be crowned though ... at least not until my feet grow a bit!

"This is my country
The land that begat me,
These windy spaces
Are surely my own.
And those who here toil
In the sweat of their faces
Are flesh of my flesh
And bone of my bone."

(Sir Alexander Gray - from Scotland)
