Foraging
These crab apples are on a tree on the verge 50 m from our house waiting to be picked. Unfortunately, I wouldn't use crab apple jelly and can't think of any other use for them, so they will probably fall off and rot. I love this time of year because it is a time to go and harvest from the countryside. When I was a kid, I used to love picking blackberries from the hedgerows of our farm and used to make a black berry milk shake with them before smoothies were invented. One year, I picked sloes and made sloe gin, and I always liked picking field mushrooms, although these were often maggoty. Foraging has become trendy and a couple of years ago, I went on an urban foraging workshop to find the free food available around central Christchurch.
Not such a good day. Took an extra pill to try to manage the vomiting. It made no difference, and I put me to sleep for most of the afternoon.
