Cheery
There was more than a little persuasion needed to have His Lordship pay a visit to the coast with me on a day when the Fifers were God's own children as far as sunshine was involved. The Edinburgh side of the Forth was very grey and cheerless.
Much work was required to jolly things along when it was discovered that he had misjudged the temperature by ten degrees and was found wanting on the number of his layers of clothing insulation.
Lest you feel sorry for him, let me say that tomorrow when he ventures out into the snowy hills, he will have thought to don adequate clothing and there will be nobody to listen to his complaints
No doubt because of the chill, North Berwick was strangely quiet and empty of people. Usually the visitors swarm like bees round a honey pot outside the shops and cafés but today they seemed rather empty.
Even the beach entertained few dog walkers, but admittedly it was raked by a fierce arctic wind.
These colourful doors on the dry yacht dock were once upon a time the entries to bathing cubicles round the now defunct outdoor swimming pool.
