Wren

Troglodytes troglodytes has to be one of my favourite Latin names. Not as sharp as I’d like, but it’s not easy to photograph this species. This wren was sharing the hedge with a goldcrest, both popping in and out at random locations almost within touching distance. Quite a photographic challenge. I did at least capture the wren but failed to get anything other than leaves just after the goldcrest had popped back into the hedge again. A charming experience – easily the closest I’ve ever been to a goldcrest – but a rather frustrating 15 minutes photography.
