Kestrel

A beautiful sunny day today so we headed off after lunch and climbed the local mountain, Garajonay. The top sits at 5,000 feet and is often swirling in mist. It's quite a gentle climb, not very strenuous. We had some good views today and spotted this kestrel sitting in a tree. The trees were burnt in fires which raged for weeks in the summer of 2012, hence their blackened appearance.
