Pruning

Two years ago, this little tree was threatening to die.  It wilted badly during the summer and looked like it had had enough.  So we did what all good gardeners do to a weakening plant, we pruned it right back to within an inch of its life taking out a huge amount of growth that the poor wee roots seemed unable to support.  And it responded, last year it came into strong leaf all over and looked much better for its haircut.  So this year we are pruning it hard again, well, we both were until I set the pruners down to take this pic of Mrs Mac hard at work!
