More conservation work, this time with the Cumbria Wildlife Trust and Friends of the Lake District. Here mature hazel has been coppiced, and stakes put around the cut base. Then the cuttings from the hazel are woven around the stakes to provide a sort of basket, providing protection for the new growth from marauding deer.
