The Ice Stream
We went out on a boat into Grundjafjord to look for Killer Whales this morning. Normally they come into the fjord to hunt herring but neither the herring nor the whales have been sighted since January.
It was a still sunny morning with lovely light. A trio of beaker nosed dolphins turned up briefly. We saw an Atlantic sea eagle and many seabirds. But no whales.
After returning to port, we had lunch and then spent the remainder of the afternoon near Kirkjufell, taking photos of fading sunset light on the mountains and the frozen water at the head of the fjord. I rather liked this view of a gradually freezing stream draining the lowland.
It might have been this watercourse that I broke into while coming down the slope to set up my tripod. Minus temperatures all day today.
