Dancing on the moon

All the talk before, during and after the school day today revolved around tonight's International Evening. She was extremely pleased that Grandad and Granny managed to come over and join us for the festivities. The evening began with a Disney Parade. Every class was a different movie - of course Foundation got Frozen. 25 little Elsas, a handful of Annas, some adorable Olafs, Christofs and "palace knights" all skipped wonderfully to their song as they followed the parade round the outside of the school, having a marvellous time. Katie beamed and waved, loving it.

After the parade we, amongst other things, made Hawaiian cocktails and a lei, walked (danced) on the moon (which was actually dark with UV lights and really fabulous - the flash killed the effect rather!). She had milkshake in the 50s diner, watched a silent movie, learnt about ice hockey & NFL, past presidents and Broadway, we did "flower power" art and did a bit of line dancing. All wearing her beautifully decoupaged cowgirl hat. She loved seeing her teachers in their Hawaiian wear (one of the Foundation classrooms was "Hawaii", the other was a Frozen Ice Palace, made of milk bottles!). Whenever she walked past one of her favourite teachers, Katie swished the teacher's grass skirt. She had a great time. The effort the entire school team had gone to was amazing - every single classroom had put so much work in to it, creating sculptures, decorations and art work. Foundation had done a gorgeous patchwork USA flag. The whole event was brilliant.

She is excited for tomorrow, the final day of the project. A project she and her school colleagues will definitely remember!
