Crumblies
On the whole, unlike the 90's bodged cottage, the 1820 main roof timbers have been in pretty good nick. This one, however, wasn't. It emerged from a section that had been 'repaired' (read, 'covered up') previously.
It may be being expensive but I'm glad were doing the roof refurbishment properly.

Also in terms of 'doing it properly', the door that I was about to put a lock on had been hung rather approximately (which may explain why it never stayed closed). Some time later...
I'll fit the lock tomorrow...
