Colazione

I had the most simple, perfect breakfast. Mocha and toast.
I realised last night we were out of bread, E was already in bed so I wasn't keen to pop to the shops, leaving the kids on their own.  So I made bread instead. The only yeast I had left was Italian yeast I'd forgotten I had (slightly out of date).  it's not the usual yeast, lievito di birra, but lievito di madre, which as far as I can gather is more of a sourdough type yeast.  It smelt amazing whilst rising, a very strong yeasty, almost alcoholic smell.  The bread was amazing! Fab flavour and lovely and dense, proper bread! Glad I have some left, just can't get interesting things like that here.
In the morning however, I discovered that we had also run out of milk - sadly we didn't have a handy cow to milk!
Back to school after 3 day mid-term hols, felt like Monday, was Thursday - that's pretty good going :-) 5 day weekend and 2 day week is clearly the way forward.
