Graves in ottoman

This is a grave from Ottoman times in central Istanbul. The mosque was built in 1569. Each stone was painted in green color and it has different shape. The shape of turban they wear determines the social position of the buried person.

The pro-islamic Turkish president brought a new idea of education in ottoman language. He says we are not able to read this stones. Ottoman is not existing language and the alphabet is in Arabic. Turkish Republic uses Latin alphabet since 1928.
Yes i can not read these stones but I am still able to pray for their souls. Do we need to change whole alphabet for this? This was of course was political step. Genius idea:))?
Love to all.
