Woman with Axe

This morning I went firewood gathering on the Mamaku Plateau. The husband was on the chainsaw and Jenny and Rick split the rings and I filled the trailers.  We were a great team.  There was a pathway through the young pines and we could wheelbarrow the wood to the trailers.  Again we were collecting older indigenous wood that was exposed when the old crop of pines was harvested.  Today it was Rata, Matai and Red Beech.  Jenny is very accomplished using her splitting axe.
