Protest

I'm not one for protesting. Normally.

But our fair city has been misled. Those in power, for whatever reason, have  apparently fast-tracked progress of a new shopping mall/office block/monstrosity to be built on the former site of St Nicholas House. An eyesore which, thankfully, is no more.

Why they want to replace one carbuncle with another is anyone's guess.

This is the same administration who (and I'll pick my words carefully again) misled us following the bastardised referendum over Union Terrace Gardens. The city voted in favour of change, with Sir Ian Wood offering to donate millions to the cause.

The now ruling coalition council vetoed the plan, promising instead a civic square on the site of St Nicks.

See where this is going?

Willie Young, the neep pictured in the banner, has been the council mouthpiece on the project, claiming that the council/city would be hit with £100m of penalties if the project was canned.

This was proved to be nonsense.

Anyway, today around 1000 or so folk turned up outside the Councils plush new HQ, Marischal College, opposite the offending site. I don't expect it'll make a difference, but you have to try!
