White Park Cattle
Today I drove over to my brother who was laying a wooden floor in his new house. I steam cleaned all the builders' dust out of the crevices in various rooms. This refurbishment seems to have been going on for an age but now the end is in sight and he hopes to move in by the end of the month!
On the way back I noticed a field of White Park Cattle grazing. They are a very ancient breed in this country going back a thousand years or more. The Rare Breeds Survival Trust was started in 1973 and the few remaining herds were listed on their books. Today there are more than a thousand breeding cows in existence so hopefully the breed will survive. They are bred for beef.
