ripped
I've often wondered why photographers who love the ocean, the beach the surf - along with the surf safety folk; like the lifesaving clubs, haven't put together some sort of educational tool to help the non-beach people to identify a rip & what dangerous water is?
It seems like a logical idea, easy enough to put together I would have thought. But alas I've never seen anything of the sort.
Today, during a nippers carnival 2 small rescues took place in what appeared to most of us as pretty dangerous water. The first one occurred within the flags when the water/tide rapidly changed. Warning people: if there are waves going off shore as often as they are coming onshore - it is not going to be a safe place to play.
Australian beaches are notorious for drownings - those most at risk are pool swimmers & people visiting the beach for a swim for the first time - either from inland Australia or overseas - where the beaches just aren't as appealing.
