Meeting him - when the helmet came off
I moved with a jolt. And tried to figure out the best way to get to the front of the hotel, without being seen to be running. I almost ran into one of the metal beings, and headed towards the sound of the bike. As I came out of the bushes, he was closer than I had expected – he’s obviously gone to the far side and come back again. Had he seen me? I saw him push-reverse his bike into a parking slot and then turn the key to switch his bike off. The next minute was in slow motion – after taking off his gloves he lifted his helmet off. It was as if my vision had moved to 3d HD. His skin – how smooth and young it looked. What I remember more than anything else, was how massive and stunningly beautiful his smile was. He looked up after placing his helmet on the tank, and saw me – and that first, rewarding smile……….his teeth so white, but it was the fact his smile went way beyond his mouth. It brought such life to his eyes, and again, his skin.
Cliché I know, but I felt paralysed. I stopped bang on the curb of the pavement across the tarmac from him. I stalled really. His smile had arrested my senses, and I was frightened to move as I couldn’t remember how close I was to the step down from the curb. I had to look down, as any second I was going to lose my balance even if I was on even ground. I remembered to breath again as I looked up. I took a few steps then towards him, and as I did that he went to get off the bike, but I somehow stopped him. I wanted to admire his bike………but in reality, the sight of him, in those black leathers, sitting astride that green and white Kawasaki………..I just wanted to drink it all in.
When I thought about those few seconds later that night, I realised he saw all of my reaction. How my eyes lit up and drank him all in. I stumbled with my words – no idea how I started to speak normally again, but I think it was he who carried the conversation initially until I managed to find the ability to speak again. Wow was he out-of-this-world gorgeous. I was totally and utterly out of my depth, but somehow, and God only knows how, the conversation flowed. I took his lid while he dismounted his bike, and that was the first time I got sight of his behind. I actually felt myself bite my lip, and then could not control my own face as the grin spread like quicksand across my face. He saw that too. I lost the ability to talk for the second time, and had to keep my eyes lowered while I desperately tried to suppress the rash I could feel stampeding across my face.
