Early rise for the slowboat to Laos
After a long bus ride to Chiang Khong the night before, not arriving til 2.30am, we were early to rise to get to the Laos border and onto the slowboat.
It was misty by the river at breakfast making the Mekong especially atmospheric.
The border crossing was slightly chaotic and got my Laos visa without problems.
On the other side I managed to lose my group, board the wrong boat, get spurted with blood by a guy who cut his arm open on a sharp metal siding, before finally finding the right boat and setting off down river.
Everyone was in high spirits and most had a beer in their hand. The journey was around 5 hours but it slid by as smoothly as the Mekong's current carried our boat.
