At last....

On a pastoral visit five or so years ago, I was very distracted by Goldfinches gathered around a parishioner's bird feeders.  I'd never seen a Goldfinch before, other than the ceramic one I'd bought for my parents for their Golden wedding anniversary.  I bought bird feeders soon after that first sighting, and have seen lots of lovely birds in my garden since. Until today, though, no Goldfinches.  Two flew in and stayed just long enough for a grab shot through rain splattered windows, a bow-topped fence and various bits of shrubbery.  I'm absolutely delighted.
