Black and white barley....

Monday. Enough said. A ewe with her lamb bed out this morning. They are not due till the 14th March, but if they get too fit,and the pressure builds up ,they become prone to prolapses. This one went back in OK, clean with no tears. Prolapse harness fitted,a big jag of antibiotics and she should be fine.
Spent most of the day bagging up feeding. The ewes started on a mix of rolled oats, barley, sugar beet pulp, minerals and a soya based protein blend. The amount they get fed ,and the percentage of protein in the mix increases every week up till lambing time ,so they are on a 'rising plain of nutrition'.
This is the rolled barley for the cattle. It was treated with propcorn (acid) to preserve it last October. As I have worked my way into the pile with the loader bucket, the edge has formed these ravines.
Oh,and Mrs Farmerboab returned from her night with the girlies  at Stobo, although relaxing must be hard work by the look of things!
