Just Incredible
Wow. What a day!
I woke up made myself get up at 6am, on a Saturday. Ouch. But needs must! T made it very clear that I needed to be in London by 1:30pm, and those that know me know that time and "A" do not belong in the same sentence!
I had a relaxing breakfast on the couch with the TV on, my laundry was on, and I got ready and did my "chores" rather quickly! Was mostly done by 10:30am, which left me time to pack and get ready to go! It was drizzly, as promised, but it wasn't too bad.
I went to Mum's to see Little B, and then she took me to the station. I got the 13:00 train, and it only takes 25 minutes to Clapham. All T had said was the time I needed to be there, and all week he refused to give me any clues about what we were doing!
Now I'm not good with surprises, so it left me feeling a little uneasy....! I did ask what clothes I should wear, and after he told me my usual stuff was good, and that we were going somewhere fancy but not too fancy, I thought I'd worked it out! I thought we might be going for afternoon tea somwhere. Wrong!
I met him at Clapham, and we hopped the train to Waterloo, or Waterlove as it was displayed on the boards. As we walked through the station, he asked me if I'd eaten, which I hadn't, and told me we wouldn't be eating until 5ish... So I figured it wasn't afternoon tea after all!
While we were on the train I asked him again, and he said he would tell me. From his jacket pocket he pulled out two tickets and handed them to me. They were to go and see The Phantom of the Opera!
Now I never go to the cinema, as I can't sit for long, and I've never been to the theatre in London before, but I was really excited! I thanked him, but I was aware it must have cost a bit to buy tickets for two people.
It was drizzly and grey outside, but there was something lovely about being in London on a saturday afternoon, strolling hand in hand on our way to the theatre.
The show was amazing! Neither of us were 100% sure of the story- I know, how uncultured are we?! But nevertheless the singing was great, and I loved watching the set change over and over again. There were a few scary/unexpected bits that made me jump, but it was brilliant!
We both agreed we had now ticked something off of our bucket list, and I think my belated new year's resolution is to go to the theatre more.
The show finished at 5pm, and we walked to a nearby Thai restaurant for an early dinner. When we finished we started walking, and T said we had plenty of time, and we had to be somewhere at 8pm. Again, he wouldn't tell me what he planned, and I couldn't believe there was more to this fantastic, and totally unexpected day.
We walked back to Southbank, and I soon realised where we were going...The London Eye. I've walked past it a billion times, and I've posted numerous blips of the view of it from the Jubilee bridge, but never really contemplated going on it! We had speedy passes or something, which meant minimal queing, and champagne whilst we were up there. I am a little afraid of heights, but it moves reassuringly slowly!
And what a view! It was fantastic to see the city and it's landmarks from above, and many pictures were taken. It was a great experience, and really good fun.
After that, we made our way back to T's, where we had a nice cup of tea and a chat with his roomate, before we headed to bed to watch a movie/the second half of the movie I fell asleep watching last weekend!
I was blown away today. I cannot believe he put so much thought into today, or why he would want to do all that for me. But as I said to him, multiple times, it was totally unexpected, and very much appreciated. I feel I need to repay him for all the expense today! I'm sure I'll find something nice to do for him another time, but I'll have to listen carefully if he drops any hints! He's obviously paid a lot of attention to the nonsense that comes out of my mouth these last few months ;-) !
