Castle at half term

It's a glorious day, it's half term, the steam trains are running, but the town and its castle have far fewer visitors than usual.

Corfe Castle is at best a difficult town to negotiate by car.  With a four-way traffic light system in operation in the centre of the town, there are at times long tail-backs of traffic.  For instance I have heard of it taking half an hour to drive to the town from Harmans Cross, two miles away on the Swanage road.  It's quicker to walk!

The cause of the problem: scaffolding for works to the front of the Bankes Arms Hotel, owned by the National Trust.  The works are scheduled to continue for several more weeks.  (I saw two workmen - just two - on the scaffolding today.  Impressive?)
