Littleburn

After yesterday's episode with the ball I decided that Bud needed more swimming practice. You never know when he might be in a situation where he needs to be able to swim without worrying about it. We rarely go on a waterless walk.

So we went to Littleburn, the stream there is quite gentle and has a sloping bank. At first Poppy was immediately into the stream retrieving the ball and Bud was doing his usual act of waiting for her to drop it infront of him on dry land.

But she soon got bored with this and wandered off to have an explore on the little island. If Bud was not going to lose his ball he had to go in himself. I threw it in a shallow section of the burn. At first he ran frantically up and down the bank trying to decide what to do. He can swim I know and the ball was within wading distance this time. after a few minutes he plucked up his courage and waded in to get it.

After that initial hesitation he was in everytime. We shall do more of this so that he is able to judge when it is safe for him to go in.

A good afternoon's work.

I apologise for my lack of commenting recently, but out Internet connection is very intermitant at the moment. (I blame the family of teenagers who have revently moved in next door. It always slows down in the late afternoon and into the evening!!!!!!)
