Monday, February 16, 2015 -- Tristan's Birthday
Today is Tristan’s 8th birthday. He is our only great-grandchild, and our cup overflows. We did not think we’d get to see him for this occasion, and then a phone call changed our evening. Tristan needed to be transported from his mom & stepdad in San Diego County to his dad & stepmom in San Bernardino County.
With the new semester beginning tomorrow, I had some last minute finishing to do (okay, I’ve procrastinated a little)! So, I could not leave my home office.
Grandpa Fun went to the rescue. Four hours later, G-Gpa arrived back home. He said the freeway was worse than bad (at the close of this holiday weekend). But he took Tristan and his mom & stepdad to dinner to let the freeway lose its ugliness. Then he and T left mom & stepdad in SD County and ventured toward San Berdoo County.
G-Gpa said as they drove in the darkness, Tristan told him all about Martin Luther King and how we’d have peace today if he were still alive. T then told G-Gpa about Abraham Lincoln and he told about George Washington. Then Tristan said, “Grandpa, I don’t want to talk about this anymore,” and asked, “Do you still have the children’s Jesus songs that you used to play for me?” And Great-Grandpa Fun said, “I sure do.” The rest of the way to Calimesa, Tristan and G-Gpa Fun sang the songs about Jesus.
After many road miles, My Mr. Fun was overflowing with joy when he returned home this late evening. Tristan’s 8th birthday was a surprise filled with delight for these two great-grandparents.
Happy Birthday Tristan, we love you more than words can express!

And that was our Monday!
Good night from Southern California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka, Carol
