National monument Edinburgh

The National monument was supposed to be a replica of the Parthenon in Athens built to honour the soldiers killed in the Napoleonic wars. Unfortunately the funds ran out and it has never been completed. It is still a spectacular sight at the top of Calton Hill where there are really good views across Edinburgh.
