Ashing

It's Ash Wednesday today, and as one of the staff in my local Co-op commented, 'Everyone remembers Shrove Tuesday, not so many remember Ash Wednesday.' We have a service including Ashing each year and I love the symbolism of using last year's Palm crosses to make this year's ash, and the reminder that 'from dust we came and to dust we will return'.
