Tonsils and teeth!

Today Spence went in to hospital to get his tonsils and adenoids out. He doesn't get sick with tonsillitis or anything but he snores, is really skinny, can't eat big pieces of food, has only bursts of energy and still wets the bed every night through a nappy. This is all because of his large tonsils and adenoids and the fact that he doesn't sleep properly. It's only when you are in a deep sleep that the growth hormone gets produced as well as the hormone that tells your body to decrease the amount of urine you produce while sleeping. So when you put all that together it makes sense to take them out!

Just before he went in for the surgery his very first loose tooth came out! He was so excited!!

Spence seemed fine with it all which was good. The surgery went really well, his adenoids were extra large and his tonsils were large so it's good we got them out!

The first thing spence asked when he woke up in recovery was 'can I build my new Lego now?'!! We made him wait until he was on the ward then he had 5 minute bursts of energy (and Lego building) before needing a nap! It was very cute!

Joti was in daycare but Kaz and I both went in with spence. Kaz stayed the night with him and I went home to Joti.

He did so well! We were told that it will take a couple of months to get over the surgery and for him to improve but to expect some changes to his sleep, energy and eating habits!

Apparently day 4 or 5 is bad and day 10 so we will see how he goes! He has at least the next week and a half off school.
