Fort Charlotte

One of the entrances to Fort Charlotte in Lerwick. I presume the main archway was the original entrance with a bit of filling in in later years.

Originally built in 1665 to help protect shipping during the war with the Dutch. Named after Queen Charlotte the wife of King George III
