Natural light

I was at a meeting today (nothing new there).

As you can see the meeting room had a wonderful large window that took up almost one wall and measured 4mx5m in size. I was fascinated by it.

The building was built in Victorian times. Presumably gas lighting would have been popular and architects would have designed buildings to make the very best use of natural light.

Fast forward 50 years and my guess is buildings became darker due to the availability of electricity and all the fancy lighting that came along with its widespread usage.

Fast forward another 50 years to today...and we recognise the benefit and beauty of natural daylight coming into buildings. And of course we now need it due to the price of electricity and the damage wasting it causes the environment.

Everything comes around again!
