Floral Joy?

Oh dear!  An indoor rose and a cyclamen in a pot, both Valentine’s Day gifts for the lady of the house . . .and decidedly long past their best already.
Which to my mind, is not only disappointing, but decidedly unsatisfactory as well.
I would expect both to have a life considerably more than five days. And while not a gardener, I do know how to look after indoor plants, especially when they come with one of those little plastic tags which have full instructions for care.
Curiously, they both came from the same store — one that goes out of its way to  impress on customers that it’s a cut above its rivals.
We had cut flowers some four weeks earlier for a January birthday, and while some had to be thrown out just over a week ago, some of those are still in bloom.  A different source admittedly, but both very much better than the growing flowers which one would expect to give joy for some weeks.
Yet I bought an indoor potted azalea as the weekly special from a different supermarket, also for Valentine’s Day, which is a mass of blooms and apparently thriving.

So it’s a journey back to the garden and plant section of the original supermarket tomorrow.  Neither were very expensive, although twice the price or more of the azalea.  But that’s not the point!
