Johnnie Shand Kydd
A day in Manchester is always a nice and interesting contrast to Bakewell.
Today an afternoon lunch at the marvelously decorated China town ( hot and sour soup/3 roast rice) and then onto the opening of Hawksworth a new restaurant for cocktails and snacks! A cab ride through rush hour jock a block Manchester saw us ending up at a talk in the newly refurbished Whitworth Gallery to see one of my favourite photographers Johnnie Shand Kydd in conversation with some bloke from the gallery!
It wasn't a particulary inspiring talk chaired badly, but afterwards I got to have a chat with Johnny.
We shared some mutual friends who unfortunately we hadn't seen for ages and it was really fun to talk about them and the times in London we'd had during the late 90's and early noughties.
Johnny takes great pictures of people, someone had once had once described him as a great photographer even before he'd had a camera as he was a great voyeur.
I liked him a lot.
