Chinese New Year

The Chinese year of the Goat got off to a noisy start today with a performance of the Lion Dance outside the local Malaysian restaurant.

The drummer drummed loudly, the lion danced energetically, men did a sort of manic Chinese sword dance with swords more like cutlasses and a girl performed a complicated dance with what looked like a long handled trident before the lion came to life again, offering good luck oranges to some of the audience, myself included.

There will be no fears for the coming year in this household if I haven't caught a deadly chill waiting around in the icy blast for my blip.
