Old train station. The City of New Orleans stops here going down and coming up. They restored the old station a few years ago and preserved the old ticket booth. We stopped in to pickup our daughter. She's home for the weekend. Trains are nice, trains have character, trains are efficient. We Americans need to support our public transportation. Check out the old City of New Orleans poster. It's hard to read, I only had my iPhone with me. The bottom of the poster says Chicago to New Orleans. Steve Goodman wrote the song "The City of New Orleans" while riding on this track. He was visiting his wife's family in downstate Illinois and got off the train at this very station. He wrote the song after making the trip back to Chicago.
