The Remains

After the fire was out. It was a stubborn one for sure. We (my fire dept, plus 2 other depts for man power plus 2 more for water supply for a total of 5 departments on scene) were there from just before 8 pm until after 1 am, then recalled twice for rekindle. No one was hurt, the only occupant wasn't even in the house when it started. I was first on scene as I live just 2 miles away. As you can see, it was a bit cold, the ice encrusted my turnout gear to the point that when I took it off, it stood up on its own. Not much is left but he has his life and that's what matters.
This view is from the front door looking in towards the kitchen area. It was not safe to go any further in as the structural integrity was gone.
