Catlins
As we drove away from Te Anau there was some lovely light on the hills with dark skies behind them. We stopped at Winton for coffee at the delightful Route 6 cafe which has most of a Dodge convertible inside used as part of the serving and office space. Gradually as we continued south the rain spots increased and became persistent as we reached Invercargill. We carried on into the Catlins and stopped for lunch at Fortrose (named after our one on the Black Isle). I liked the view of the broken down tree that we saw from the cafe window so when the rain got lighter, I got the camera and took my shot of it. We stopped again for the petrified forest and the lighthouse at Waipapa Point.
The area seems quite underdeveloped. We're staying in a Farmstay B & B and the local cafe is closed for a private function this evening so we need to head back to Tokanua to get a meal this evening. I hope the weather will clear tomorrow and enable us to get to see some of the sights.

PS I've added a few more from today and yesterday.
