Return of the newts

I spent some time clearing up my little pond at the weekend ready for the return of the newts and frogs. 

Tonight I snuck out with a torch and my camera to see if there was anything going on in the pond. I spotted three newts and one frog. Sometimes we've had huge dollops of frog spawn in the pond by now. Last year the newts polished it all off in an evening feeding frenzy. I'm hoping we might get some spawn through to the tadpole stage this year. 
For a tiny urban pond, we see a surprising amount of wildlife.
