A still point

The Millennium Bridge, Newcastle

I loved the light on the Baltic as I was heading back along the Quayside. I wasn't sure about heading over as very tired lately but I thought a little bit of graded urban exposure would be good for me ... albeit brief. I was trying to remember when I was last in a town! Felt ridiculously yokel.

Two poems on my mind over the last day or so ... this is an extract from one of them, T.S. Eliot's 'Burnt Norton' ....

At the still point of the turning world. Neither flesh nor fleshless;
Neither from nor towards; at the still point, there the dance is,
But neither arrest nor movement. And do not call it fixity,
Where past and future are gathered. Neither movement from nor towards,
Neither ascent nor decline. Except for the point, the still point,
There would be no dance, and there is only the dance.
