Hallucinating
Hello again everyone! It's been a funny old week with no blipping or commenting but I'm trying to catch up.
Today's offering is this little marmalade hoverfly (Episyrphus balteatus) - thanks to Miranda for informing me it was a hoverfly and not a bee! My googling also taught me that hoverflies have one pair of wings while wasps and bees have two.
Here it is collecting pollen from my inherited rhododendron. According to the BBC, honey made from rhododendron pollen or nectar can cause hallucinations, loss of co-ordination and vertigo, but only if it has been made by bees very recently. This is known as mad honey disease.
Have backblipped the following: Promise, Harmony breaks out, Gods and mammon and Tulip.
