Farewell spit

Farewell Spit is at the top of NZ 's South Island.

Unfortunately over 100 whales were stranded on this spit last week, despite the efforts of hundreds of Kiwi volunteers in trying to refloat them and herd them back out to sea.

These stranding happen almost every year and no one can explain why.
