'White Night / Morning'
White Night was on again last night in Melbourne. The city was expecting to host over 800,000 people last night, so after last year we decided to wake up early and go in after the crowds had thinned down.
We left home at 4:15am and arrived in town at around 5am. It was a very warm night, and the temps at that time of morning were still in the mid 20's. We walked around for 2 hours looking at all of the different installations and discovered some great things. The nicest thing was the liesurely pace we could do it at without having to jostle for a position to see anything.
This was one of the first exhibits we looked at, a light and sound show inside St.Pauls Cathedral. It was dark inside, the huge organ was playing and there were images being projected onto the walls of the church. It was a very religious experience.
My other favourite exhibit was these rotating speakers on big twirling arms, there were probably around 15 towers, each tower with 2 speakers and each speaker producing a different tone. It was a very powerful experience walking through listening and feeling it.
Also it was a year ago that we said goodbye to our blip friend Martin Dawe. Time flies...
Picked up the kids from Nana's house just after 8am and headed back to Nunawading for Bella's school friend Lennox's birthday party at a rock climbing centre. It was an awesome experience for the kids and most of the parents ended up helping out too.
Home after a quick stop at Rebel Sports in Ringwood to get Dylan a new soccer ball. I crashed on the bed with a headache and didn't surface again until around 4:30pm.
