This must be Thursday
I never could get the hang of Thursdays
Today has been a more problematic kind of Thursday as last night seemed to be lacking its usual amounts of sleep. Last night, I was busy sleeping the sleep of whatever when the dog starting howling. barking, whimpering and other noises that meant I should pay attention. I soon noticed that he was trying to say "STORM - BIG ONE" because that's what it was. Big KABOOOOMs of thunder and the kind of lighting that makes you check your eyes are still attached after each blitz. Followed by torrential rain and hail. And a dog providing a running commentary. I don't normally get much sleep as it is (as I stay up later than people who have to get up early should do) and the storm stole some of it. Today I have drunk a lot of coffee :-/ But I did get rewarded with this lovely misty shot this morning as the sun was rising and the night's precipitation went back to where it came from (obviously it's been following Swiss politics and knows that outsiders aren't welcome in this part of the world ;-)
Anyway, it is a rather perfect day. The smaller Spitzlis have had sports day - which, now I've written that reminds me of the majorly competitive sports days we used to have at my primary school. I've never been competitive (I knew it was pointless, I had a wonky leg and asthma), so it was all lost on me, but I remember how we used to have to march out of the playground carrying our banner in a manner that my father called the "Hitler Youth Parade". Sports days in Pembrokeshire happened whether it rained or not. Some years we would exchange the "60m sprint" for the "quite short wade through knee-deep mud" and all in our house colours, wearing plimsolls and our little legs going purple with cold....
Thanks for all your lovely comments yesterday :-)
