Culkein Bay Rainbow
Stormy day - our chalet which is on stilts actually moves quite a bit in the wind and there's a damp patch on the floor where the rain is being blown up through a hole where a pipe/cable passes. Rob & Jean came round for an inspection, they reckoned it moved as much as their caravan! Okay it's maybe not as solid as Last years, but look at the view.
Later on in the day the rain stopped and a little bit of sunshine tempted me into moving our mobile hide (car) closer to the beach. Got some nice photos of shore birds, Oystercatcher, Ringed Plover, Sanderling, Dunlin and RCB's blip of Turnstone.
As this has been done as a back-blip here's our "chalet list" - birds we saw from the chalet: Greylag Goose, Mallard, Eider, Red-breasted Merganser, Great Northern Diver, Cormorant, Shag, Buzzard, Golden Eagle, Oystercatcher, Ringed Plover, Sanderling, Dunlin, Whimbrel, Curlew, Turnstone, Black-headed Gull, Common Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Herring Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, Common Tern, Razorbill, Black Guillemot, Rock Dove, Meadow Pipit, Pied Wagtail & Hooded Crow - this'll be our chalet of choice next year, if it's not been blown away.
