Porth Oer
I found the wifi password, hiding in plain sight. So, here is a recap on the weekend so far. On the drive over, Lake Bala was spectacular in the afternoon sun. This is the view from our accommodation, a converted chapel in Maentwrog.
Saturday was fine and sunny, ideal for a visit to Abersoch, a regular holiday destination in the 1960s. The beach huts were a photo-magnet, for me and others. We then drove across the Lleyn Peninsula to Porth Oer, famous for its "Whistling Sands" which reputedly squeak as you walk on them. Not yesterday, they didn't. Maybe the sound doesn't work out of season.
The views of Snowdonia from the road back through Porthmadog were spectacular.
