Hinsley Hall Leeds

The attractive listed building in the Headingley conservation area was built in 1867 as a training centre for Methodist ministers and known as Wesley College. It continued in this use apart from an interlude during the war when it was a Wren Naval base, until 1967 when the Little Sisters of the Poor bought it to be a provincial house and juniorate. It became the College of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Sisters began building the Mount St Joseph’s Home for the elderly in the grounds. The Diocese of Leeds purchased the College from the Sisters in 1996 when it was decided to create a new Pastoral and Conference Centre. The turret holds an hour-striking clock installed at the Wesleyan Theological College in Leeds in 1868 by W Potts & Sons.
